Vinoba Bhave University (VBU), Jharkhand, came into existence as a teaching-cum-affiliating state university on the 17th of September, 1992, after the bifurcation of Ranchi University, by Act 3 of 1990 passed by Bihar Assembly. Vinoba Bhave University is the fruit of a years long endeavour by the people of Hazaribag. The Vinoba Bhave University manages and maintains 22 Postgraduate departments including the newly established Biotechnology and Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics Departments, MBA, MCA and M Ed under the nine faculties of Humanities, At present, B Ed teaching is being imparted in ten colleges of the University.
